Member of Parliament for Builsa Sud, Dr Clement Apaak called for a temporary closure of Parliament with immediate effect.
His submission follows President Alban Bagbin’s revelation on Wednesday that some lawmakers and staff have tested positive for Covid-19.
He had previously warned, as part of a measure to ensure adherence to health protocols, to release the names of MPs who still attend House debates despite their positive status.
However, the member for Builsa Sud had a different view of a more radical approach to the issue.
Thursday night he posted on Twitter; “15 MPs and 56 parl employees have tested positive for COVID Best option, stop parl.
“We do not know the identity of the positive people who attended the parl again. Stop talking, ”he said.

The Speaker also warned that MPs who have not yet taken the test must do so immediately.
“Some MPs who have actually tested positive for Covid are still coming to the House. The Speaker wants me to inform you that if these MPs do not step aside and isolate themselves, he will be forced to publish the names of those MPs who have tested positive in order to warn the rest of us. “
Dr Apaak therefore recommends that “all MPs and staff isolate themselves”.
He also called for urgent testing of all lawmakers and House staff.
“Have us tested after 14 days, then we will resume if we are negative,” advised the deputy for Builsa Sud.
Recall that parliamentarians, staff and parliamentary correspondents of all media houses in the country were instructed to submit to tests Tuesday, January 25 by the 7th president, Professor Mike Ocquaye.
Meanwhile, the House has yet to announce all of those who have passed the test.
