Sierra Leone beat Ghana to win Jollof 2019 competition in the United States

– Carol Mabinty Khanu, a 26-year-old leader representing Sierra Leone, won the Jollof 2019 Contest in Washington, DC, DC.

– Jollof Rice is one of the most prevalent dishes in West Africa. It is consumed in the following regions: Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Togo, Liberia, Niger, Mali, Cote d Ivoire and Cameroon.

Sierra Leone won the 2019 Jollof Contest held in Washington, DC, DC.

This West African country has overcome fierce competition from neighboring countries, Liberia, Nigeria and Ghana.

Ghana could only rank fourth, behind Liberia and Nigeria, respectively second and third.

Sierra Leone was represented in the Jollof contest by Carol Mabinty Khanu, a 26-year-old chef.

The competition took place on July 6 at the Heart of Students at Columbia District College (UDC).

The festival was organized by Afrooilitan Insights, founded by a certain Ismaël Osekre.

"We are incredibly happy for Carol and we wish her and all the other winners and personalities the greatest success on their individual journey, they have all contributed immensely to the achievements that this festival has developed since we started in 2017,"Mr. Osekre told TheAfricanDream.net.

The very first Jollof competition held in Washington was held in 2017. It was finally won by Nigeria.

Jollof rice remains one of the most widespread dishes in West Africa, it is consumed in the regions of Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Togo, Liberia, Niger , Mali, Côte d 'Ivoire and Cameroon.
