Everton's boss, Marco Silva, has not abandoned Idrissa Gueye, a Paris St Germain target, at Goodison Park.

Silva insisted that he had not been informed of a new PSG bid for the midfielder and that he had left it behind. Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Huddersfield because of an injury to the groin.

Gueye is reported have submitted a written transfer request after the French club made an offer of £ 21.5 million by the Merseysiders.

"He had a minor problem in the groin," said Silva after Richarlison's first goal propelled Everton to eighth on the grid.

"We have tried to be honest with you all and with our fans. After the match, I tried to find out if something new had happened because I was waiting for your question and there was nothing new.

"He has a minor problem in the groin. No new offers and hope that he can continue with us.

"I'm not aware of a new offer or not. Nobody told me. Last night we were at the hotel to prepare the game, fully focused on the game.

"I know the market is open until January 31, it's still difficult for us, but about the new offer, £ 30 million, nothing has happened.

"I asked there 10 minutes ago there was something new, but there is not any."

Silva thought his team deserved three points at John Smith's Stadium after playing in the last 24 minutes with 10 men.

Referee Stuart Atwell showed a red card to Lucas Digne's substitute after tripping Adama Diakhaby.

"We showed a strong character and you need it when you're not at your best moment of the season," added Silva.

"We started the game strongly, quickly and we scored the first goal.

To be honest, it was not a perfect performance for both teams and it may not have been the best match to watch. But we deserved the three points. "
