He is the music mogul behind huge TV shows including X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.

But Simon Cowell proved he was really a family man because he was spotted spending a day cycling with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and son Eric in Santa Monica Pier, California on Saturday.

The 59-year-old TV judge and his family were joined by BGT friend and colleague David Walliams, 47, as the group absorbed the Californian sun.

Normally known for his stern personality on the screen, Simon looked happy and relaxed as he happily drove his mountain bike along the pier.

Dressed casually for the outing, the star donned a black long-sleeved top, which he paired with impeccable white shorts.

He added a pair of sneakers to black and white and protected his eyes with a pair of dark sunglbades.

Meanwhile, 41-year-old Lauren put on a long-sleeved denim shirt in a denim dress shirt and, like her famous boyfriend, she also wore white shorts.

Adding to her understated look, she added a simple pair of flip-flops and black sunglbades.

The socialite allowed her brown tresses to flow freely in the wind, while she dropped the makeup for the occasional family outing.

Five-year-old Eric was as adorable as ever with a dark gray slogan t-shirt, a black hooded jacket, navy sneakers and a pair of black jogging bottoms with a rainbow print. Knee.

To keep his child safe, Eric wore a helmet on his head while sitting behind his mother in his bike seat.

Meanwhile, comedian David swapped his costumes for a much more casual ensemble, putting on a navy t-shirt and black sweatpants with a pair of white and black sneakers.

The group seemed to be having fun, with Simon and Lauren running together.

While David and Simon later had a catch-up pedaling side by side.

Simon's adventurous day with his son comes as he revealed that his biggest fear was that Eric was being bullied at school.

S addressing Weekend magazine, he said, "What I fear the most, is to intimidate him.

"There are two things that worry me so that he will grow up. One is stress. Children are so stressed – with their homework, their pressure. I really do not want that for him.

"The second thing is bullying. That terrifies me. If even a hint of that … I do not think I can deal with it.

However, he explained how much the child was "in love with primary school," adding, "He loves school, which is surprising because I have never done it . He says that he likes to learn.
