Simon Harris: Anti-vaxxers need to "take action," Health Minister says

Irish Health Minister Simon Harris made a strong statement this week condemning anti-vaxxers and saying they should be called. His comments came while the country was crying heroic Laura Brennan, an HPV vaccine activist, died this week.

After being diagnosed with cervical cancer, Brennan became an HPV vaccine activist and since the beginning of her campaign, the participation rate has increased from 51% to 70%.

According to BreakingNews.ie, however, Harris said anti-vaccination groups were still causing damage, saying the falsehoods they spread should be lifted.

"We really have to use anti-vaxxers. we have to call them, "he said.

The minister also criticized his colleagues DT (members of the Irish Parliament) who, according to him, are equally responsible for the dissemination of erroneous information on vaccinations.

"They continue to send me representations that cast doubt on the benefits of vaccines on X and Y components," Harris said.

"Yes, we have to provide parents with all the information. Yes, we must help parents make informed decisions.

"But if you want medical advice, you need to get it from a doctor or a health professional, not from a member of Dáil Éireann.

"We have seen far too many TDs getting into Dáil Éireann and standing on Dáil's floor to criticize the HPV vaccine.

"Some of the Dáil people who spoke the most at the time of the CervicalCheck audit were the same people who opposed a vaccine that can prevent cervical cancer," she said. he added.

"It is complete and complete hypocrisy; it's the hypocrisy of rank; it's dangerous and it's going to cost lives.

"We need to be really concerned about what is happening here, we have a measles epidemic in our country, we have an epidemic of mumps in one part of our country.

"Yes, the rate of HPV vaccine is increasing, but we really need to do it much higher if we want to eradicate cervical cancer in a generation."
