SINGAPORE – Singapore Airlines has stopped two of its Boeing 787-10 aircraft due to engine problems, the carrier said on Tuesday.
During a recent routine inspection, the company said that a "premature deterioration had been noted on some engines" of its 787-10 fleet.
"While waiting for engine replacement, two SIA 787-10 aircraft were removed from service," he said.
The carrier stated that it would operate other aircraft on the routes concerned to minimize disruption. He said some flights had been disrupted without giving details.
Singapore Airlines has announced that it is consulting the Rolls-Royce engine builder and the relevant authorities on next steps and possible precautionary measures.
SIA has become the first airline in the world to fly the 787-10 since last year. The 337-seat aircraft includes 301 economy clbad seats and 36 business clbad berths.
Like many other countries, Singapore has immobilized a Boeing 787 Max following two fatal Max 8 crashes, in Indonesia in October and in Ethiopia last month.
