An unmarried mother with cancer and "petrified to die" made her sons promise to care for each other.
Tanya Davies, 32, had already been diagnosed with bowel cancer, but she was given the green light three months ago.
But last week, the Asda worker, who has two boys, Jack, 8, and Ben, 14, received the terrible news that the disease had spread around her body.
"I just asked them to promise to always watch over each other if something happened to me," Tanya said.
She added, "I'm worried about what could happen to my kids if something happens. I just want to know that they will be fine.
Tanya, of Walker, Newcastle, first consulted the doctors with intense stomach pain – but x-rays, scans and numerous blood tests showed nothing was wrong.

"My belly was swollen as if I were nine months pregnant," she said.
"I was diagnosed with a cyst in the stomach, but a cyst would not prevent you from going to the bathroom. The longer the days were, the more I suffered. & # 39;
Finally, she pushed under the knife and a surgeon discovered a tumor behind her intestine.
Bowel cancer, which affects 40,000 Britons in the UK, is most commonly seen in older men and is considered rare in young women.
Tanya, who described her case as "one in a million," then underwent 17 cycles of chemotherapy and operations to treat the disease.
He was told just before Christmas that the cancer was gone, but it has since spread to the pelvis and liver.
"Medical staff have told me how empty they are," she said.
"I hope I have treatment and chemotherapy, but they stopped looking for a cure. I am petrified to die.

In the meantime, the mother of two is focusing on "making memories" with her children.
"Jack told me that you beat him once, you will beat him twice," she said.
The mother's friends of the two children launched a crowdfunding page to raise money for a family vacation. It quickly exceeded its target of £ 500.
"He is an adorable, calm and kind person who really would not expect anything from anyone," said his friend Tania Armstrong.
"It's the only way to know how to help, and we just want to make it easier for her while she's in pain."
