Former Scottish captain Budge Pountney said Ireland would be "a different animal" in Saturday's Six Nations match against the Scots at Murrayfield.
Ireland lost 32-20 to England in Dublin last weekend, while Scotland gained 33-20 points against Italy.
"Ireland is a pretty good team to change things, look where they are wrong and rectify that," said Pountney.
"They will look to keep the ball longer and put pressure on Scotland when they get the ball."
The former flanker added: "The Scottish coaching team and the players will be aware of it." Scotland must therefore be fierce and be up to the height of Ireland.
"I think it will be a very fast game, very physical, a fantastic game to watch."
Scotland is undefeated for seven home games against Six Nations since losing to England in February 2016 and progressing from Edinburgh and Glasgow to the quarter-finals of the European Champion's Cup. gave them an extra boost.
"Scotland are benefiting from Glasgow and Edinburgh playing fast and confident rugby, and if they manage to produce that tempo and play 100%, they have a very good chance of beating anytime." who during their day, despite a smaller pool of players, "says Pountney.
"Ireland will be fully on the field Saturday and Scotland can look forward to facing a very angry and committed Irish team.
"The fact that Italy scored three last consolation attempts last week will strengthen the determination and concentration of the Scots, but Ireland is a totally different proposition.
"Scotland will seek to reproduce the manner in which England has played against Ireland, the speed of defense of the English, and will see if they can inflict on Ireland the same level of pressure.
"Both sides have a lot to do, so it's a very intriguing match."
