Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, young stars from England, impressed by Chelsea's 3-0 win over Brighton last night. Here are six things we learned in the Premier League game.
Young English people on the bridge
Callum Hudson-Odoi made his Premier League debut and caused a lot of problems for the Seagulls during the 90 minutes.
The young Englishman was heavily involved in a move to Bayern Munich during the transfer period of January, but it was understandable why Chelsea was so keen to keep his winger.
He made his debut in England last week and Blues fans have asked him to get started in recent weeks.
Hudson-Odoi already looked threatening before preparing Olivier Giroud for opening Chelsea's score seven minutes before half-time.
He should have found the back of the net when he horribly missed the ball shortly after, but he remained a threat in the second half and saw a header saved by Mathew Ryan.
His teammate in England, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, also impressed after winning the winner in Cardiff on Sunday. He scored a magnificent goal – the third in Chelsea – when he ran the ball into the top corner starting at 22 yards.
The Blues must keep the duo in control and continue to give them play time, especially if the rumors that unite Eden Hazard to a move to Real Madrid prove true.
A difficult evening
Odds were rare for Brighton since Chelsea's defense took advantage of a comfortable evening.
The Seagulls worked hard to limit the chances for the Blues, but the result never seemed doubtful in the first match Olivier Giroud.
Albion had two unfortunate chances when Solly March flew into the net from a tight angle and Bernardo had a slight speed gain, before Anthony Knockaert did not come off playtime and lose the opportunity.
There were ironic songs from "We got a chance" from Brighton fans after Bernardo's efforts were saved and Chelsea never really seemed to give in.
Risk a thorn in the side of Albion
Eden Hazard has been a thorn in Albion's shoulder on all four occasions where teams have met in the Premier League.
The Belgian international was rested from the start thanks to Chelsea's 2-1 win at Cardiff on Sunday and Brighton boss Chris Hughton said he would be grateful if Hazard did not leave for Stamford Bridge.
Albion kept Hazard quiet enough at first trades, but he came back to life after racking up two mazy before he should have scored 0-0 when he took over.
He scored the goal 2-0 at the hour with a scoring goal when he picked up the ball, drove ahead and brought him home in the far corner.
A cruel blow
Solly March fell limp after just half an hour of calf injury and the winger now risks missing the FA Cup semifinal with Manchester City at Wembley.
This is a cruel blow to the winger who has always been present in the Albion Championship team this season.
His defensive work, which helps side defenders and strikers on the wing, is what Albion's chief, Chris Hughton, likes about March, a person he can rely on.
Offensive midfielder Pascal Gross is also ready to miss the semifinal, but Albion Hughton should otherwise be able to choose a team in top form.
A different option for Wembley?
Bernardo entered the left wing for the Seagulls and with Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinal on Saturday, is this a decision that Albion boss, Chris Hughton, is considering?
The Brazilian looked bright in just under 20 minutes on the pitch and managed Brighton's best effort on goal with a nice shot saved.
It has only been used as a rear left this season. It will be interesting to see if Hughton will decide to coexist Gaétan Bong and Bernardo to thwart the offensive talents of City.
All eyes on Wembley now
Chris Hughton said during the pre-season that the players had the chance to be in the starting lineup for Wembley with a solid performance.
Although he has not had any outstanding performances, Hughton will have a clear idea of what his starting lineup will be and there will be few surprises.
Glenn Murray will most likely lead the line and the main question mark could be who plays on the bottom left. This could be a combination of Gatean Bong and Bernardo where Bernardo could play on the left back and Alireza Jahanbakhsh will continue in his recent role to the left of the striker trio of Albion.
This is a free kick for the players, no one expects Brighton to beat Manchester City. Under pressure, can Albion cause one of the big FA Cup losses of recent times?
