Doha: Supreme Health Care Communications Committee of Ministry of Public Health launches new smartphone service, integrated with "Qatar Health" application, to provide the public with information on asthma and allergies .

The service, which was developed using the combined knowledge and expertise of the Ministry of Public Health (MOH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Primary Health Care Society (PHCC), was developed to help people with asthma and allergies to manage condition.

Ali Al Khatir, chairman of the Supreme Communications Committee for Health Care and communications manager at HMC, said asthma and poorly controlled allergies led to a large number of visits to the emergency department each year. He added that the new service is not intended to replace medical advice or treatment, but that it could help people with these diseases to better manage their health.

"There is no cure for asthma and allergies. For some people, these conditions are a minor nuisance, but for others, they can be a major health problem that hinders their daily activities and can even put their lives at risk. Most patients with these conditions will require individualized, ongoing care to help them understand disease management, triggers, avoidance measures, disease surveillance, and how and when to use prescribed medications.
