Mark Williams admits he was frightened by the health alarm that forced him to move to A & E on Friday night, in the middle of his clash with David Gilbert at the World Championships.
The world champion was suffering from chest pains in Sheffield and he went to the hospital to check that nothing was too bad between sessions of his second round match.
Fortunately, the doctors were not too concerned about the health of the Welsh and he returned to the Crucible to complete his game with Gilbert, which he then lost 9-13.
Williams does not know what caused the chest pains and says that he has actually adopted a healthier lifestyle since the end of his life.
"I have not been drinking alcohol for about a month," said the 44-year-old. "I ate healthily and lost some weight coming here to give me the best chances.
'Maybe I need to come back on beers and kebabs to give me the best chances.
"I felt a little scared because I did not know what it was. It's not as bad tonight as it was yesterday afternoon. But you can not withdraw from this event, perhaps a smaller one, but not the biggest in the world. "
Williams was disappointed to see his title defense finish in the final stage, but he knew his game was just not up to standard because he was not in top form.
"I feel that, to be honest with you, I do not feel very well.
'I tried my best, but I just did not have the whole game. I knew at about 5-3 that I was going to have a hard time competing with Dave. I did my best, I might have got to 12-10 at the end, but I missed it too much.
"Even if I had reached 12-10, I would have needed so many chances to win the frames, I needed a couple of chances to win a frame and you will not get that at every frame.
"I had chest pains, I just could not stick it and I did not know what it was. I went to A & E to check it and stayed there for a few hours.

"I feel really bad and I played like I feel, really, terrible.
"Do not take anything away from Dave, he did three or four very good clears, you can not take anything away from him, even though I did not play very well, he played very well."

Gilbert enters the quarter-finals for the first time in his career as his fantastic season continues.
Aged 37, he has qualified for the World Championship as a driver for the first time this year after reaching two clbadification finals. He is sure to win at least £ 50,000 for this race in the last eight at Sheffield.
The Angry Farmer will now face Barry Hawkins or Kyren Wilson in the quarter-finals.
