Something is wrong with lime scooters.
Swiss and New Zealand riders reported that the front wheels of their electric scooters suddenly jammed halfway and projected runners to the ground. The malfunction resulted in dozens of injuries ranging from bruises to broken jaws.
In January, Lime removed all his scooters from Swiss streets when incidents occurred. When the city of Auckland, New Zealand, decided to suspend the company earlier this week as a result of 155 reported cases of sudden braking, the company acknowledged that a software problem was causing chaos.
"We have recently become aware of a software problem that may cause the engagement of the front wheel lock mechanism during a trip," said Lime in a statement submitted to Forbes. "Less than a fraction of one percent of all lime trips in New Zealand have been affected by this problem, especially 0.0086%.
