Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia badured Ghanaians that the sound macroeconomic and microeconomic principles stemming from the innovative policies and programs implemented over the last two years have put Ghana in a strong economic position and made the future very strong. promising.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the Nana Akufo-Addo government has embarked on major structural reforms and implemented policies and programs that have begun to bear fruit and foreshadow a future full of opportunities for the country.

"Looking ahead, it can be said that Ghana's future under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is bright and that the prospects for growth are promising," said Dr Bbawumia at the first public meeting of the Economic Management Team (EMT) in Accra on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

More than 500 stakeholders representing farmers, market women, unions, teachers, parliamentarians and other identifiable organizations attended the meeting held one day after the formal end of the credit facility program IMF. It was also an opportunity for a frank public interaction and the nine men that make up the EMT.

The theme of the meeting was "Our Progress, Our Status, Our Future" and provided the opportunity for critical feedback to influence the government's future policies.

"We are implementing a plan to change the structure of the economy," continued Dr. Bawumia, explaining: "Two years after the start of the plantation for food and employment and now for exports, we have learned a lot and we are optimistic.

"As part of the One District-One Factory and Business Recovery Plan, the growth of the sector is growing. The gradual improvement of the ease of doing business and the national agenda for entrepreneurship and innovation stimulate business creation.

"The nascent automobile industry, the integrated bauxite and aluminum industry, followed by steel, petrochemicals and value-added processing are our pillars of diversification to change the structure of the economy. And we must train our young workforce to the extent of these economic changes.

"The current digitization pace will make Ghana one of Africa's most digitized economies over the next five years.

"That's not all, the recent oil discoveries in Ghana could dramatically increase production from 2021. If planned developments proceeded without delay, they could potentially double oil production in 2021, to about 400,000 barrels per year. day."

Dr. Bawumia also said, "The government's integrated development and infrastructure program is underway across the country. This covers investments in a modern road network, water systems, aviation, ports, ports and railways. "

Among the upcoming projects, he said, include support agreement to the main Sinohydro project, 12 fish landing sites, the multipurpose dam of Pwalugu, the solar hybrid Bui and the project of the project. irrigation, the resumption of train services on the refitted railway line from Accra to Tema, 10 centers of excellence for youth and sports, provision of thousands of housing for security services and a major digitization project to make Ghana the most digitally integrated society in Africa in a few years.

While acknowledging that much remained to be done, Dr Bawumia was optimistic about Ghana's prospects.

"We will be the first to admit that everything is not rosy and that much remains to be done; and the full impact of some of our initiatives is not immediate, but will be very important for the country in the very near future.

"We are implementing an inclusive program to empower Ghanaians regardless of their circumstances and reduce hardships. We do it on 3 fronts: building human development capacity and expanding job creation opportunities; improve access to public services and, third, empower local communities and invest in local infrastructure development.
