The government, in partnership with Solin, a Hungarian private company, is building affordable homes for Ghanaians across the country with polystyrene concrete technology.

The public-private partnership (PPP) gives Solin the mandate to finance and build affordable housing for Ghanaians, which will then be absorbed by the government on flexible and affordable terms for citizens.

Speaking at the official lawn cutting ceremony for fast housing technology in Accra on Feb. 11, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, said the goal was to build eventually 10,000 homes for Ghanaians.

He explained that the project to fill the housing gap among Ghanaians would create an affordable and affordable home.

"We can not have a healthy society in mind if people do not have decent homes," he said.

Mr. Atta Akyea badured with the greatest badurance that there would be "no government bureaucracy" in the way of the project.

He said that this affordable housing project could not have come at a better time when the country was facing a deficit of 1.7 million housing units.

Samuel Atta Akyea

The Minister of Public Works and Housing described the Hungarian's response to the housing deficit in Ghana as a "miracle".

Following the intervention, Mr. Atta Akyea revealed that the government would create a mortgage regime that would make housing affordable for Ghanaians.

He therefore encouraged Ghanaians to support the project's success, warning against any propaganda trend.

This, he said, is part of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's "One District, One Factory" (1D1F) project to create jobs for Ghanaians.

The minister congratulated the Hungarian government, Solin and Sino Africa Development Company for this initiative.
