Solskjaer ready to get his hands on Mourinho, captain of Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has welcomed Paul Pogba as the future skipper of Manchester United, just weeks after Jose Mourinho removed the player from his vice-captain position.

Solskjaer, the acting boss of United, thinks Pogba, who has committed a foul on Mourinho towards the end of the term of his former director Old Trafford, is leadership material.

In September, Mourinho told his 25-year-old son that he was no longer a vice-captain. He questioned the concentration and ability to lead on the field of a man who had helped France to win the World Cup two months earlier.

But now, Solskjaer has dismissed Special One's claims and said he is considering Pogba, who has flourished with him with five goals in as many games – all winning the only victory – as a future permanent skipper.

Pogba plays like a dream for United in recent weeks

Solskjaer, the interim manager, thinks the midfielder can earn the title of captain

"Certainly, yes, because I know the boy from before [Pogba’s first spell at United overlapped Solskjaer’s time on their coaching staff] and he is a leader. He is a character, he influences people and you have seen the videos from France. He cares about him and really wants to succeed, "said Solskjaer.

"He knows he can not do it alone, it's a team game, and he's a character who brings so many good things with him when he's having fun, you see the personality. to play football, he is a larger than life character and that's what he is.

"When performances also come, it gets married as a good leader.

"You see what it meant for him to win the World Cup, in what France has broadcast. So for me, yes, he is the captain's material. "

Mourinho was pissed off by Pogba's huge social media profile and had used it to undermine United's record of 89 million pounds during his turbulent times at United. But Solskjaer said he had no problem with Pogba's social media presence and that it was part of modern football and society.

"This is part of the time we live in," said Solskjaer. "It's just society now, that's what they're used to, kids now. I am not, but they are.

Their tense relationship saw Mourinho tell Pogba that he would never be his captain

The Frenchman has spent the last few matches before United is brandishing the ax as an unused submarine

"And everything is positive, everything is good and I have no problem, because it's Paul, it's Jesse Lingard. We obviously have some rules, and that's common sense. "

Solskjaer revealed that veteran defender Ashley Young was now captain, Antonio Valencia's injuries seeing him lose the armband.

"Ashley wears the armband, because Antonio is struggling to stay in shape and coming and going," he said. "Antonio is still the captain of the club, but Ash wears the armband when he plays.

"I had all kinds of captains.

"You had Eric Cantona, who was captain when I arrived, who was not very frank but led by example. Then you get Keano [Roy Keane]who was a fantastic captain. Gary Neville was a different captain, he was more vocal and Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] Sometimes he was also a good captain: when he spoke, you listened.

"As a captain, you bring the culture and set the standards.

"We had some iconic captains here, with Steve Bruce and Bryan Robson – great personalities. I think it's important, that you're not afraid to stand in front of your teammates and put them in their place if necessary. "
