Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has let guess who could be the next captain of Manchester United.

The position has been vacant since the departure of Antonio Valencia at the end of his contract in June. The armbands were shared between David De Gea, Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic in United's pre-season games.

De Gea started as captain in the most recent of these friendlies, a 1-0 win over Kristiansundand after the match, Solskjaer was questioned about when a decision concerning the permanent captain would be taken.

"We have different types of captains," he said, quoted on United's official website.

"There are vocal leaders and players like David, who has merit with what he has done and who will play the majority of games. We will announce something soon. "

Last month, De Gea himself was invited to give his opinion on what it would mean to become a United captain.

"I've been captain for some games," said De Gea. "Of course, it's amazing to be captain of a club like Manchester United and defend that badge.

"It's amazing, so of course I'll be really happy to be captain."
