OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER will welcome the stars of Manchester United in their training with the following message: It is the form or bankruptcy.
Solskjaer and his behind-the-scenes team wrote a pre-season diary to keep the fitness problems, which were so problematic last year, from happening again.
The team of the first team should return to Carrington on July 1, although the players involved in the League of Nations are entitled to a break of a few extra days.
And the manager has left them all the certainty that he expects them to come back in top form, and whoever would not do it could be eliminated from the pre-season tour.
Each player received a specific diet for the season, adapted to individual diets and light work.
And they will be thrown into a hard routine as soon as they get back to work, before United travels to Australia for the first leg of their preparation for the season.
The first week will consist of double sessions, from 9:30 to 16:30, the first two mornings also including various tests.
TEST TIME
Players will be tested for weight, body fat and saliva – presented by José Mourinho.
The results will be compared to the readings taken during the last week of the season.
They will then have to deal with exhausting fitness sessions, the former being focused on the dreaded bleep tests.
After training until lunch, they will have an hour of rest before focusing on ball work and running in the afternoons.
United's pre-season tour takes them to Australia, China, Singapore and Wales, starting with a match against Perth Glory on July 13th.
They face Leeds four days later, before flying to Singapore to face Inter Milan on July 20th.
By avoiding the Europa League qualifiers, they will continue their meeting with the Spurs in Shanghai on July 25, before facing AC Milan in Cardiff on August 3.
Solskjaer openly admitted he was surprised by United's fitness when he took over from his opponents.
It had not been a major problem with Jose Mourinho's slower approach, but became a major concern as Solskjaer wanted a return to the high-speed style of yesteryear.
