Somali forces foil major terrorist attack in southern Somalia

MOGADISHU, April 2
(Xinhua / GNA) – Somali National Army (SNA) forces foiled a major terrorist
attack in the southern region late Monday as a result of violent clashes between
The army and al-Shabab fighters, government officials said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of
information stated that SNA forces also seized a tanker loaded with
explosives in the village of Sabid in the Lower Shabelle region.

"The terrorists
plotted to carry out a large-scale terrorist attack in Somalia, but the heroes

It was not clear how
many activists were killed in recent fighting in Sabid where the
the insurgents have several bases.

According to the security
sources, explosives are one of the biggest bombs ever made by Al-Qaida

target.

The ministry said
security forces took over the village of Sabid, located about 40 km southwest of
Mogadishu by activists.
