Some Ghanaians in the UK, known as the Patriotic Ghanaian Citizens in UK, have taken to the streets of London to show their support for President Nana Akufo-Addo and his administration.
They carried signs and banners, some of which read “Let’s fix it together”, “Let’s work on our own attitude”, “Thanks for free SHS”, “NABCO is a game changer”, among others.
Supporters praised the president and his administration and urged him to do more to further improve the country’s fortunes.
They also congratulated the President on the successes recorded with regard to his industrialization policy, the “Ghana CARES Obaatampa” program, among others during the COVID-19 pandemic, and at a time when the world economy is under pressure. pandemic pressure.
Nana Addo welcomes ecstatic Ghanaians to UK
Presenting a petition to the Ghanaian High Commission in the UK, the group’s leader, Amanda Baffour-Awuah, revealed that Ghanaians in the diaspora truly appreciate the progress made under President Akufo-Addo’s government.
She believes that with the necessary support and constructive criticism, policies such as Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, 1 Village 1 Dam, 1 District 1, Factory, among others, would go a long way in facilitating Ghana’s development.
Ms. Freda Bediako-Puni, Head of Commonwealth and Diaspora Affairs who received the petition on behalf of the High Commissioner, thanked the protesters and assured them to send the petition through the High Commissioner to the President.

The Resurgence of Ghana’s Economy Amid a Post-Covid Global Economic Recession: Fixed and Corrected.
In this brief brief, we, Ghanaian Patriotic Citizens of the United Kingdom, wish to remind Ghanaians of your successes and highlight some lingering bottlenecks in our system of governance which you have inherited and which by the grace of God will be addressed in the years to come in the following accounts. :
1. The COVID response and SE’s global leadership
The covid-19 pandemic is weighing heavily on human and economic development around the world. Although Ghana has recorded the third highest number of coronavirus cases in Africa, at one point (after South Africa and Nigeria) the country has not been as devastated as other countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas and we have only Almighty God to have shown us mercy in these difficult times.
Besides the mercies of God, the relatively good state of the current economy of Ghana is a direct result of the leadership of HE President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the crises. The government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has put in place multiple efforts to deal with the adverse effects of the pandemic, especially on the economy and financial sectors. Key policies launched to successfully tackle the pandemic included;
• SE’s bi-weekly national speech and an update on government efforts to limit and counter the spread of the virus;
• Provision of publicly funded care for patients infected with the virus;
• Provision of US $ 100 million to prepare a COVID-19 response plan
• Expansion of Ghana’s national capacities and empowerment, immediate release of funds to support businesses in the production of nasal masks, aprons, disinfectants, clinical materials, equipment, public education, etc.
• Public health education and contact tracing
• Social and travel restrictions
• GHS 1 billion stimulus plan for industry and citizens.
• Creation of the National COVID-19 Trust Fund managed by an independent board of directors
• Government support to cover the water and electricity bills of all Ghanaians and businesses
• Food and livelihood assistance: Distribution of US $ 40 million in dry food packages and hot meals to vulnerable people affected by containment, including the poor and street vendors.
• Coronavirus Mitigation Program and GHS 600 Million Business Support Program in collaboration with the National Council for Small Industries, Trade and Trade Associations and some commercial and rural banks
2. Pre-Covid economic miracle
It is undeniable that your first mandate in government was crowned with resounding successes and we hope that you will consolidate these gains during your second mandate.
Below is a list of some of your most significant achievements before COVID:
1. Reform the banking sector and reduce average lending rates as well as inflation
2. Maintain our place among the fastest growing economies and maintain a healthy trade balance while increasing our gross international reserves.
3. Successful implementation of flagship programs such as Free-SHS, 1D1F, One Village One Dam, Planting for Food and Jobs, One Constituency One Ambulance
4. Introduction of a pension scheme for farmers and creation of the Tree Crop Authority
5. Enroll 100,000 graduates in the Nations Builders Corps program (
6. Reduction of import duties
7. Digitization of the economy: digital address system, national identity card with tax identification number (TIN), mobile money interoperability program, simplified passport application process as well as driving license application
8. Revive the industries of NHIS, aluminum and bauxite, etc.
3. Initiatives of the Rebecca Foundation
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate and express our deep gratitude to the Rebecca Foundation for its unwavering commitment to the welfare of women and children in Ghana. Over the past four years, we have observed with admiration the work of the Foundation and its adherence to transparency and good corporate governance practices which have made the Foundation one of the most reputable charities in Ghana.
We believe these are the qualities that have enabled the Rebecca Foundation to provide infrastructure and other services in the areas of child and maternal health, education and women’s economic empowerment. We recognize some of the great initiatives that the foundation, through its support and leadership, has deployed and carried out.
1. Innovative approaches for the promotion of primary health care, i.e. the construction of a mother-baby unit for the Komfo Anokye University Hospital in Kumasi, which has helped reduce congestion at the maternity ward. , dramatically reduce the infant mortality rate and improve outcomes for mothers and newborns
2. Construction of health posts in disadvantaged communities and its monthly health interventions
3. Provision of family planning services for young adults
4. Renovation and construction of new libraries in some remote areas
5. Exchange programs for Ghanaian students; an educational program that seeks to deepen cultural, academic and athletic ties between students in Ghana and China
6. Advocacy efforts for the extension of maternity leave beyond the legal 12 weeks
4. Address persistent inefficiencies in our governance structure
Mr. Speaker, while we congratulate you on the unparalleled achievements of your government since 2017, however, we also feel compelled to bring to your attention some inefficiencies that still prevent us from realizing our full potential as a people.
We would like to draw your attention to five areas that are still full of ineffectiveness and it is our prayer that you pay close attention to these areas:
1. Income distribution in Ghana is still at disproportionate levels
2. The economy is still plagued with enormous debt
3. Persistent unemployment, especially among young people.
4. The high unemployment rate among our teeming youth creates a feeling of insecurity in the system. We therefore call for the collaboration of enlightened leaders in government, business, religious organizations, financial institutions, academics, scientists and educators to push for quick solutions to job creation for young people, recognizing that a stable economy is a prerequisite for human well-being, stability and peace. They should focus on realizing the immense mutual benefits of creating jobs and improving security, dignity and fairness.
5. Although your government has implemented countless anti-corruption interventions, including the digitization of the economy, with the aim of harmonizing procurement processes in the public sector, ensuring judicious use , economical and efficient of public funds, there remain countless petty corruption in the Ghanaian Public Administration which clearly undermines all socio-economic developments
6. Finally, it is observed that a quick response from your office regarding sensitive issues of public interest such as the Ejura incident will help maintain the image of your presidency for posterity; they are “the little foxes who spoil the vine” when they are totally ignored at first.
Conclusion
By acknowledging the fact that our dear country, Ghana has not been spared from the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, we also recognize that the expected surge in economic growth has been somewhat stifled and this can be felt by citizens. . Recently, there has been a stir among citizens that culminated with a now popular media hashtag #FixTheCountry.
Your Excellency, we, as concerned citizens and patriots, would like to extend a reassuring hand that we maintain our unwavering faith in your leadership and in doing so, urge you and the government to act quickly by reducing activities. some public sector officials. and government appointees whose actions may have directly or indirectly contributed to such a reaction.
Ghanaian citizens in the UK appreciate the efforts of Her Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in particular towards the very pragmatic and effective measures put in place to protect their fellow citizens at home from the dreadful effects of the coronavirus pandemic which has brutally cost the country. more expensive. nations of precious lives.
