Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS), the new successor company to Electricity Company of Ghana, said Tuesday night's power outage was "due to technical problems".
In a statement, PDS said Mallam Bulk Supply Point and Graphic Road's power supply had been "reduced", resulting in a total blackout in much of the capital, Accra.

"This caused a blackout in the western and central parts of Accra. As soon as the situation is corrected, the power supply will be restored for the customers concerned. The inconvenience is very unfortunate, "added the statement from PDS.
Areas such as Odorkor, Darkuman, Lapaz, Anyaa, Abeka-Lapaz, Sowutuom, Kasoa, Tema, Kwashieman, Awoshie and parts of northern Ghana were without power all evening. The current was restored in these regions Wednesday dawn.
PDS took over from ECG in February 2019 and is expected to turn its business around to make it profitable.
