The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the opposition party, John Dramani Mahama, said he would give up some of the newly created government departments of NPP when he was re-elected to power.
The Akufo-Addo administration would have 125 ministers; more than 30 ministers more than his predecessors.

"They say they have reached the world record of 125 ministers. Certainly, some of these ministries will go under a NDC government, Mahama said.
The former president argued that a large number of ministers constituted a heavy burden on public funds.
"Government spending has exploded and they are not able to raise enough revenue to meet the high costs. And a part of the high expenses is due to the large number of political appointments, he added.
Mahama named the minister of procurement redundant. According to him, the Public Procurement Authority was supervised by the Ministry of Finance.

By the way, President Akufo-Addo said he is ready to sacrifice his votes in 2020 to protect the environment.
According to him, he is not worried about the number of votes that he loses but is more concerned about the maintenance of the environment.
