The Bekwai District Hospital, opened in September 2010, was left at the mercy of rats, weeds and spider webs.
The Bekwai Municipal Hospital, with a capacity of 190 beds, abandoned by the Akufo-Addo Government, is one of three hospital projects launched in the Ashanti region by the National Congress Democratic Party (NDC), then in power.
The other two are in Afari, near Nkawie in the district of Atwima Nwabiagya, a 500-bed military hospital and a 250-bed regional hospital in Sawua in the Bosomtwe district.
Ultimately, the 190-bed facility is expected to ease the burden of the former Bekwai District Hospital and improve the delivery of health care in and around Bekwai Municipality, but this will not happen soon.
Construction began in March 2014 and is expected to be completed in September 2017.
React to this on Peace FM & # 39; s morning show & # 39;KokrokooOpanyin Agyekum lamented that everything in the country is politicized.
"Because of politics, the projects of previous governments are abandoned, sometimes I wonder if it is a curse, otherwise why would we abandon a project that could be beneficial to us?" he asked himself.
