MAUMELLE, Arkansas – A 13-year-old has started a fundraiser for his dying father.
The young man uses the only tool he knows, namely technology, to reconcile school work day and daycare for his father at night.
Jay opened an account on GoFundMe after his father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung disease with sarcosis.
"I want things to be the same again," says Jay Roby, a student at Maumelle Elementary School.
Jay's father, also called Jay, was informed by doctors that he was running out of time.
"My dad is my best friend," says Jay. "I think any child would do what I do."
When Jay is not focused on his schoolwork, he helps his mother, Tamalyn, take care of his father.
"We are a family and I have to help," says Jay. "I needed to do this for myself, for us, for my family."
