Sonny Bill Williams pays tribute to Muslims killed in massacre at Christchurch Mosque

Rugby star Sonny Bill Williams paid a heartfelt tribute to those who were killed in Friday's New Zealand mosque shooting.

Nearly 40 people reportedly died after an armed man identified on Twitter as Brenton Tarrant, 28, stormed Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch on Friday at 1:30 pm local time.

A video viewed by Daily Mail Australia shows the man firing several shots at dozens of people while they were trying to flee.

In a video posted on Twitter, a Williams in tears, who is a proud Muslim, said that he "could not say what I feel now."

The shootout, which claimed the lives of 30 people, was broadcast live by a man who introduced himself as Brenton Tarrant, 28, of Australia.

A man dressed in "military clothing" entered the Noor Mosque in Christchurch at about 1:30 pm local time, opening fire as hundreds of people took part in Friday prayers.

Aged 33, he told followers that he was sending prayers to loved ones of those killed and that the victims would be in paradise.

& # 39; Sending of my duas (prayers) and Mashallah (God willing) – all those who have been killed today in Christchurch … your families … [I’m] By just sending my dua to your relatives and Mashallah, you are all in heaven, he says.

"I am deeply saddened that this is happening in New Zealand."

Four people, three men and one woman, were arrested, but it is unclear if the shooter is one of those people.

Before the murders, the suspect published a 73-page manifest on Twitter, describing them as a "terrorist attack".

In the manifesto, where he also identifies with white supremacy, the man says that he is of "British race".

In the live broadcast, the man listens to folk music as he goes to the mosque with several guns in his car.

People were also reportedly shot dead in the adjoining mosque of Linwood Masjid.

Information also reports another shooting in front of the Christchurch hospital and the discovery of a bomb in a car three kilometers from the mosque.

The police urged people near the area to stay indoors and report suspicious behavior, calling the incident "critical."

New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said that shooting at two mosques and at the Christchurch hospital had resulted in several casualties.

He urged Muslims in New Zealand not to visit mosques today.
