Oddworld: Soulstorm is the latest game from the Oddworld franchise. The creator Lorne Lanning has gone to the stage E3 Youtube of Geoff Keighley to discuss the game.
Oddworld Lorne Lanning, its creator, appeared this afternoon on Geoff Keighley's Youtube show on E3 to discuss the upcoming Oddworld: Storm of soul. Lanning and Keighley plunged into the background of the game and the character of Abe while showing a bit of gameplay. Check out the full interview below.
The development began three years ago at the sixth entry into the Oddworld franchise. Lanning mentioned in the interview that the character of Abe had started as a slave trying to free himself from his people from the oppressors, but this original idea had somehow changed over the course of the series. He feels that the most recent games have "slipped" and hopes to bring the show back to its roots with Oddworld: Stormy soul.
The footage shown was minimal but beautiful. Lanning explained how you must combine items to create makeshift weapons from the junk that "The Man" allows you to buy. He calls the game "anarchist this way". You will also need to recruit a number of characters to build your team. Lanning and his team want players to care about these characters and their plight. Let's hope we have another trailer later this week.
At the end of the interview, Lanning said the team was aiming for an exit for 2020. However, this is a "big game made by a small team", so I think that this date could easily decline depending on the evolution of development. Keep an eye on Dualshockers for tons of additional information on E3 this week.
