SOUTH AFRICA is now a visa-free travel destination for Ghanaians.

Ghana was added to the list of seven countries whose citizens would be allowed to enter South Africa without a visa.

The decision to add Ghana to the list was taken by South Africa's Department of Home Affairs, following the announcement made in September 2018 that South Africa was finalizing a number of visa exemption with other countries.

South African Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said in a statement that citizens of all seven countries can enter South Africa without a visa.

The minister estimated that tourism in South Africa would increase as the country relaxes its visa obligations.

He added that of the 193 UN member countries, the Department had granted visa-free status to 75 countries.

Of these, he said, 16 were on the African continent and were members of SADC and 59 came from all over the world.

At the same time, Ghana has therefore concluded mutual visa waiver agreements with 20 additional countries in the world.

Of the 21 countries, mutual exemptions apply to holders of diplomatic and service pbadports traveling to eight countries.

The other 13 countries should cover the holders of all pbadports.

The official correspondent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, dated June 26, 2019 and seen by DGN Online, mentioned the following 21 countries: Barbados, Brazil, China, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Seychelles, Sudan, Turkey and Kenya. .

The rest included Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica and Rwanda.
