South Korea recorded its first current account deficit in seven years in April.
The Bank of Korea announced on Wednesday that its current account balance posted a deficit of $ 66 billion in April, down from the $ 4 trillion surplus of March.
This marks the first deficit since April 2012.
The central bank said dividends paid to foreign shareholders reached $ 6.8 billion in April, with most companies paying annual dividends in April.
The trade surplus also fell to five points-seven billion dollars in April due to slowing exports.
