England manager Gareth Southgate excluded a move to Chelsea Maurizio Sarri is about to return to Serie A with Juventus, champion.
The job in Chelsea could be at hand, given the growing number of reports, Sarri should sign a three-year contract to replace Mbadimiliano Allegri at Juve.
Southgate – under contract until 2022 after the race from England to the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup – appeared as a possible substitute in the scenario where the former boss of Napoli, Sarri, leaves the Premier League club.
At 48, he does not want to return to club football. He had already headed Middlesbrough in 2009, while England was gearing up for the match for third place in the Nations League finals against Switzerland.
"No," Southgate told reporters when he was asked if he would be interested in Chelsea's work. "I am engaged in England, as simple as that.
"I do not have to cover myself to keep the doors open or keep things alive. There is no way that I leave England at this point, take any work.
"The only thing that concerns me we have a European Championship next summer and we need to continue to improve this team to be the best possible team for the country.
"We brought 20,000 fans to Portugal, which is remarkable, a sign of their commitment with the team and the belief in what we are trying to do. So, why would I rush to give this opportunity and opportunity to affect not only football, but other elements that the role brings? My only goal is to produce the best possible team for England. "
