Kazakhstan: A Russian craft carrying three astronauts after a six-month mission to the International Space Station has landed safely in the central steppes of Kazakhstan.
The return to earth of US astronaut Tracy Caldwell-Dyson and Russians Alexander Skvortsov and Mikhail Kornienko has been delayed for a day after technical problems forced the postponement of undocking of the spacecraft.
A hover of Russian recovery helicopters took off before landing on Saturday morning in an area southeast of the remote central Kazakh city of Arkalyk to intercept the capsule.
Friday’s departure was delayed by signaling errors and malfunctioning locks on the space station side of the Russian craft.
