Ghanaian police said two specialized units of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had joined forces to quell the recent wave of crimes in some parts of the country.
A statement by the director of Ghana's public affairs directorate said that all its resources were mobilized to deal with the security situation.
"The officers of the specialized units of the Criminal Investigation Department, including counter-terrorism units and special and tactical weapons, are part of the team of investigators responsible for these cases," says the statement signed by Deputy Police Commissioner David Eklu.
Wave of crimes
The revelation of the police follows the killing of three people, contractual in nature, the kidnapping of some girls in Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region, and a general increase the number of major crimes committed in different parts of the country.
Minority deputies and civil society organizations were right to criticize the government for what it saw as a lethargic lethargic police service that was characterized by an upsurge of violent crime in the country.

"I'm not at all surprised, and it's going to increase dramatically before we can get an idea. Our language itself glorifies violence and, at present, threatens to harm someone. The kind of indiscipline that glorifies violence in the public space is not surprising, "he said.
Murder of the contractual type
The violent crimes, said Dr. Aning, have become a sight in Ghana and urged commentators to dispel the shock of the wave of crimes that have hit the country.
Notable cases in recent weeks include:
Pastor David Nabegmado, stabbed to death, in his church.
The pastor was attacked while he was preparing to leave his home office to go to the main church auditorium, the service continuing on December 30, 2018.
In addition, a Prampram leader was shot dead in December 2018.
On January 13, 2019, Josephine Asante, Marketing and Public Affairs Officer of the Port and Port Authority of Ghana in charge of the Port of Tema, was stabbed to death at her home.
On January 17, 2018, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, Anas Aremeyaw's investigator, was shot in his car.
At present, three girls abducted in Takoradi by a union suspected to be Nigerian – about five months ago – are still missing, prompting the #BringbackourTaadigirls media campaign.
Meanwhile, the police are urging the public to provide credible information that will help them solve the crimes.
Subregional cooperation
The Executive Director of the West African Peacebuilding Network (WANEP), Chukwu Emeka Eze, said it was time for the police in the African subregion to take action. West is working more closely to solve crimes.
He believes that it was the most effective way to fight cross-border crime.
Mr Eze therefore called on the Member States to invest in close cooperation.
"It is high time that we start practicing community policing more closely … I am talking about ECOWAS as a community because we have known in the past that our borders are artificial.
"If we do not invest in a process of maintaining order that connects the entire subregion, we will continue to have these kinds of challenges. We need to examine the method of maintaining order … we can not use the maintenance of badog order for digital crimes, "he told Joy News.
Western Area Police Commander Vincent Dedjoe, the DCOP's Redeemer, told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday that Interpol had been put on alert to help track down unions crime in the subregion.
