Spirit Airlines banned a man for life after allegedly firing an airplane smoke alarm while smoking an electronic cigarette in his bathroom.
The 30-year-old traveled from Detroit to New Orleans on Tuesday when a flight attendant caught him blowing emissions into a bag while he was in his place, the parish sheriff said. from Jefferson to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
The attendant informed the man that it was forbidden to smoke in the plane. The man then went to the toilet of the plane, announced the authorities. Shortly after, the smoke detector of the plane went off. The pilot descended to 35,000 feet to silence the alarm.

A deputy sheriff met the man when the plane landed at Louis Armstrong International Airport. According to the deputy sheriff's report, this man is "heavily intoxicated" and has a smell of alcohol, according to the Times-Picayune.
The man reportedly refused to smoke on the plane and ignored it was forbidden.
It has not been stopped, but the report says that the airline has banned it for life.
"It's a private company that can ban guests at their leisure," Capt Jason Rivarde, spokesman for Jefferson Parish Parish Sheriff, told CNN. "It's like telling you not to come back to the restaurant. Once on the ground, he cooperated with our deputy ministers and did not face any criminal charges. "
A Spirit representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The incident comes a few days after the capture of a striking video showing a man who lights and smokes a cigarette during a Spirit Airlines flight bound for Minneapolis.
