LONDON (Reuters) – Sports Direct, the British sportswear firm controlled by Mike Ashley, said its potential bid on Debenhams was valuing the troubled department store group at 61.4 million pounds.
The terms of the potential bid would be 5 pence per share in cash, said Sports Direct, adding that it would also help Debenhams meet its immediate financing needs.
Sports Direct said its proposal was also conditional on Ashley's immediate appointment of Ms. Debley to the position of Managing Director, and the end of last week's solicitor consent process.
