Baycloud Systems develops scalable cloud-based security and surveillance systems. Today he released a free beta of Sprogmonitor.com, a web service that allows parents to see in real time what their children are doing online.
Parents, who can’t always be in the same room as recommended by internet safety experts, can now see a real-time over-the-shoulder view of their child’s screen from a distance.
With Sprogmonitor, kids can see when their computer is being watched and be offered unsupervised time allowances.
Parents can interrupt access to adult sites, set schedules for social web, games, send a message that appears on their child’s screen, and even shut down the PC remotely. The child can send replies to messages and quickly consult their parental control settings.
The dangers of online predators, access to inappropriate adult content, gambling addiction, and threats to a child’s reputation from naïve use of social networking sites have made PC use and online access a constant concern for many parents. The Sprogmonitor web application was designed to address this issue.
Sprogmonitor.com empowers parents by helping them effortlessly and instantly see how their children are using their computers. By providing this “over the shoulder” remote monitoring Sprogmonitor.com empowers parents to understand and guide their children online.

By logging in with their username and password from anywhere with internet access, they can see the latest activity on their child’s screen, scroll through it, or jump to a specific date and time. . They can also adjust settings, send and receive messages, or shut down the child’s PC.
Children can still easily see when their computer is being watched and potentially benefit from unsupervised times. They can quickly view their settings from the taskbar on their own PC and respond to messages.
Parents can also download the Sprogmonitor.com sidebar gadget which is in the corner of the parent screen and displays the latest real-time activity on the child’s computer screen. This gadget can be installed on every child’s PC and is available for Windows ™ Vista or Windows ™ 7 PCs, although the website can be accessed from any device with standard browser capability, for example. Mac, iPad or smartphone.
The immediate messaging feature allows parents to send a message to their child at any time. This message will appear on the child’s screen above any window that may be active. The child can then type and send a response to the parent.
Sprogmonitor.com also includes the ability to control access to social networking sites and instant messaging, gaming sites and playing computer games, access to adult content websites and even shutdown the remote PC. The parent can specify flexible weekly schedules and additionally set daily and weekly times for each activity, which can be viewed by the child on their own PC.
Sprogmonitor.com is the first in a line of products to be launched by Baycloud Systems based on their new, highly scalable cloud-based web application and resident PC-based monitoring technologies. The activity data of the monitored computers is kept fully encrypted in a private cloud storage section for each customer, kept securely for an agreed period of time and only accessible to them.
