Ian Wright appealed to Daniel Levy for it to be overflowing with money in order to help Tottenham consolidate his recent successes.
Despite the group's lack of reinforcement last summer, Mauricio Pochettino's team ranked among the top four and reached the final of the Champions League.
This success is unprecedented given the paid business fees for first-team players and the dialogue with TalkSport, Wright said it was time for the club to move up.
He said: "Producing players and buying very well when they bought.
"It was not so long ago that they were talking about Sissoko, but he became a pillar – look at people like Kieran Tripper and what he came for." Dele Alli, Harry Kane – we could continue.
"You look at Christian Eriksen – how much will he go?" He came for £ 11.5m.
"You look at how they built this team without spending too much – building this stadium, going to the Champions League final and finishing in the top four for the last four years – that's a progress.
"It does not hurt to say that because whatever people say about Daniel Levy and what's going on with Mr. Lewis, he's doing something here.
"Now they will have to spend money because the boys have a taste of it."
