Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich were spotted having dinner in the Bay Area a few days before the finals, but according to Kerr, they did not talk about the next series.
Kerr said on ESPN's "The Jump" that Popovich had a place in San Francisco where he was going during the off season. Kerr and he had dinner to talk about their commitment to USA Basketball this summer.
When asked if Kawhi Leonard had intervened in the conversation, Kerr had simply answered "no". Rachel Nichols of ESPN asked Kerr how Leonard, former ex-Spur and opponent of the Warriors' Finals, did not show up. Kerr said that Popovich was not one to discuss old players – especially in a negative light, since Leonard had asked to be traded from Spurs.
"Pop is an amazing guy, he really is," said Kerr. "He loves the game so much. He has these principles, and it's not a guy who will say," Hey, I'm mad at Kawhi and here's how to do it "- it's not Pop.
"Pop, that's, let's take a glbad of wine and talk about this summer, let's have dinner and congratulate the organizers for the final."
Kerr added that he did not participate in the wine order. Popovich is a known wine connoisseur.

Kerr said that he went to see Popovich and Phil Jackson, his coaching mentors, before asking questions.
"I called him when they were out of the playoffs and we were still in. I called him on the occasion to tell him: What do you think about this or that? I did the same thing with Phil Jackson – send him an email and, what do you think of this or that?
"We all do it as coaches, we have friends in the league and you rely on each other.Maybe you have a friend who played against a team earlier in the playoffs, call them and say, "What do you think? "So, everyone does it."
Of course, Kerr probably would not want to admit he was getting advice from Popovich on Leonard's role. Again, it has been suggested that Popovich is not always so focused on the NBA in his spare time. He once said that he was too busy drinking wine and having dinner to spot the epic Spurs player at the university.
