Imagine living in Europe and waking up almost daily with headlines such as "Another Ghanaian Arrested". This is what Nigerians feel in Ghana. Some of us have been saying this for years, but without impact. Stop the anti-Nigerian stereotypes! We continue to reinforce an unfortunate image that Nigerians are criminals. Even when a gang of 4 Ghanaians and a Nigerian steals a bank, we are told that the Nigerian is either "outsourced" or "recruited" the Ghanaians. Indeed, nearly half of West Africans are Nigerians. Nigerians will therefore have the greatest number of good and bad villains in our region, on our continent. #StopCriminalisingNaija |
