The picket lines had an impact on the customers on the third day of this strike. Workers demand a better contract with the company.

Stop & Shop indicates that most of its stores operate normally. But several stores have reduced their hours of work while workers continue to strike.

The union said it had negotiated with Stop & Shop, but no deal was reached on Saturday night.

"I think we win, people stay out, they honor the picket line," said Franklin's Paul Collupy.

"We need to have a fair salary, affordable health care, most of us have families, we have bills like everyone else," said Rachel Gonzalez, employee of Stop & Shop.

Employees like Gonzalez say they are disappointed with salaries and new benefits from health insurance.

"The badurance that they are trying to see our payments double or triple over what we are paying now," she said.

But Stop & Shop says that they do not really change the benefits for current employees and that they offer a salary increase.

The president of the company issued a statement saying in part: "In contrast, the unions have proposed an unsustainable retail contract, including a salary proposal more than twice as high as any recent contract with UFCW, which could ultimately lead to higher prices for consumers and a less successful future for our business. "

"We ask for our fair share, we are the types that customers see and know and we simply hope that the company regains its mind and gives us a fair deal, that is all we are looking for, that is a fair deal, "said Collupy.
