The girls have still not been found according to the police
The families of three kidnapped Takoradi girls have lost confidence in the police, a spokesman said.
Michael Hayford Grant told GHone TV that "the police have disappointed the three families" since the director of the CID, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, announced that she knew "where are the girls".
Reports released Tuesday said the three abducted young women had been saved by the BNI. The pro-government newspaper, Daily Guide, also reported Wednesday that the three young women were seeking medical care at an undisclosed health center in Accra.
Several NPP officials said on social media that the girls had been found.
However, the police issued a statement denying the report, saying that "it was wrong".
However, the police administration badured the abducted girls' families and the public that they worked tirelessly with the partner agencies to rescue the abducted girls.
Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie were reportedly abducted between August 2018 and January 2019.
Grant thinks the article was planted in the newspaper to distract attention from the planned protest against the police on May 2, 2019.
"I think the story is not true. Since the CID leader announced that he knew where the girls are, we have not heard anything yet. I think they are making us "April fools," he told GHOne newsroom host Serwaa Amihere on Thursday.
The police also stated in their statement that they have badigned liaison officers to the three families to keep them informed of their relief mission. The family spokesman said the request was false.
"The police tell me that what Daily Guide has reported is wrong. They said anything, they work hard to get the girls. I challenge the police to give the names of the liaison officers who deal with us and the media need to know when was the last time they had a conversation with us, "said Grant.
He added that they were still preparing to "demonstrate against the IDC boss" on May 2 and notified their notice "we will sue Daily Guide in court for misleading us." I no longer trust in Ghana police, the police have nothing positive for us.
"It has not been easy for us," Grant said.
