Voice of Nigeria (VON) Chief Executive Officer Osita Okechukwu has advised the Forbidden Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) not to threaten containment in the southeast area every Monday.
Okechukwu gave his opinion in a statement Sunday in Enugu.
IPOB, in a statement Friday through its publicity secretary Emma Powerful, said the Monday lockdown was to be labeled: “Ghost Monday.”
The statement said “Ghost Monday”, which would affect all economic activities, including schools and markets, would continue every Monday until its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was released.
Okechukwu, however, urged the southeast area to consider the immense infrastructure development undertaken by Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in the area.
“Let me for the umpteenth time call on my IPOB brothers to sheathe their swords, because locking up the South-East is simply waging an atrocious war against Ndigbo.
“As a result, it will be a very big mistake for the IPOB to lock in the southeast and think that they are difficult, strategic and that they will achieve a meaningful result, capital letter NO.
“IPOB should not cut Ndigbo’s nose to upset Buhari’s face, because Buhari compensates with infrastructure.
“The meetings are transitory and the infrastructures are permanent. The standard gauge railways that will soon cover the entire Southeast will demonstrate the efficiency of the infrastructure. IPOB, please wait, ”he said.
He also expressed his support for Ohaneze Ndigbo’s position that the rule of law should prevail in the trial of Kanu, the proscribed IPOB leader.
“Therefore, the IPOB must be aware that locking down the Southeast is nothing more than punishing Ndigbo; to degrade against Ndigbo, economy of the South-East, to starve Ndigbo and to resemble the odious doctrine of civil war according to which hunger is the best weapon.
“My brothers of the IPOB clan, put on your thinking hat and be pragmatic, introspect and remember our brothers and sisters who live in all the towns and villages in the country, are doing well, investing happily and prospering with others. ethnic nationalities, ”he said. (NAA)
