The Policy Think Tank, the Network of Strategic Thinkers (Stranek), has asked the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate the government's attempt to buy a property in Oslo, Norway, to serve as Chancery at the Embbady of Ghana.

Stranek argued that there was an element of corruption inherent in the attempt to buy, hence the need for an investigation.

The network reported that, since a red alert had been issued about some criminal acts related to the purchase of the property, no independent investigative body attempted to investigate or verify the problem.

Africawatch Magazine, a Norwegian newspaper Finansavisen and the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, unveiled the agreement that led the government to claim that he had withdrawn his stake in the property.

Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey recently said that sooner or later the ministry should acquire a property in Oslo, Norway, because the Ghana government had a resident ambbadador.

She denied, however, that the ministry is still seeking to acquire the controversial property located at 3 Sigyns Gate, 0260 Oslo.

Stranek argued that the long wait for an independent investigation into the attempted acquisition of $ 12 million property had proved futile, hence the decision to ask the prosecutor to look into the matter.

Stranek said: "We are writing to ask your office to review the attempt to purchase a Norwegian property of $ 12 million located precisely at 3 Sigyns Gate, 0260 Oslo, opposite the Frogner Park in Oslo, which was to serve as an embbady. "

"Our concern is centered on the blatant denial of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana that the Government of Ghana has made no commitment or agreed to accept the purchase of the aforementioned property. "

"However, the Norwegian craftsmen (workers) of Building No. 3 Sigyns Gate, located at 0260 Oslo, admitted in a video that the building was being renovated for use as an embbady on demand and as directed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana. "

"This is cause for concern, hence another reason for our request. We are sincerely of the opinion that there is an element of corruption inherent in the attempt to purchase. "

"In this respect, the 2017 Law on Special Prosecutors (Law No. 959) obliges us to address complaints to your office on matters involving or potentially involving corruption and corruption-related offenses."
