Billie Eilish, prodigy of pop and our rookie of the year 2018, has officially announced his first album. The project is entitled, When we fall asleep, where are we going?, and its release is expected before the end of the year. This is the strange album above, probably inspired by the obsession of the singer for horror movies.

While other album details are still hidden, Eilish, 17, teases the project today with a new single. Listen to "Bury a friend" below.

When we fall asleep marks the follow-up of the Eilish project Do not smile at me EP of 2017, which boasted singular bands such as "Bellyache" and "Ocean Eyes". In my interview with Eilish last month, she talked a bit about her approach to writing songs on the new album:

"I write a lot of characters, so it's not necessarily something that I go through. It's just art … as if you did not have to go through it to write about it, you know? You must not feel it at all.

Many songs from the new album are fiction and from a different point of view than what I liked to write. I do not necessarily want to write about my life, there is only so much in my brain! So, all that's left is to propose new characters and new elements. It's fun to even take things from your life and formulate them differently.

Today's announcement follows the release of Eilish's "When I Was Older", a track inspired by Alfonso Cuarón's famous film, Roma. As for the future, Eilish has already aligned several festivals, including those of Coachella, Reading and Leeds and Lollapalooza Stockholm.
