The Seattle-based Tacocat Quartet prepares for the release of its latest album, This mess is a place. The 2016 follow-up Wasted time is scheduled for May 3, and the group is currently announcing its next release with a new single called "Hologram".
The song finds the indie-punk band heavily influenced by its pop sensibility, offering introspective and thoughtful lyrics, badociated with saccharine composition. As lead singer Emily Nokes Croons, "Remember if you can / Power is a hologram," says the group on power dynamics and the nature of reality. Meanwhile, their feminist speech is contained in an extremely catchy number, as you can see below.
Fourth complete album of Tacocat, This mess is a place marks his first album on Sub Pop. Produced by Erik Blood, a long-time collaborator, the CD tackles the American political climate in a post-Trump world. According to a press release, the next collection aims to "understand how to respond to a new reality in which the evil does not hide at all below the surface – it is the focus of concern, with new tragedies and new badaults. "Despite this rather gloomy subject, the group distorts these ideas and looks forward to political criticism of each piece with energy and hope.

As Nokes explained, "We can look at some difficult things, make fun of some perverse things, feel sweet feelings, feel angry, feel bitter feelings, delve into memories, feel sensational and existential. Banana daiquiri at the end. "
