Former England Under-19 coach Stuart Baxter has been sacked by Indian Super League club Odisha after using a rape analogy to describe his frustration over an arbitration appeal.
Baxter made offensive comments after his team’s loss to Jamshedpur.
“You need decisions to go your way and they haven’t,” he said in an interview with Indian TV Star Sports.

“I don’t know when we’re going to get a penalty. I think one of my players should rape someone or be raped himself if he wanted to get a sanction.
The shocking comments left Odisha FC with no choice but to terminate their contract with immediate effect.
The club made a statement on Twitter, calling the comments “totally unacceptable in any context.”

“We at Odisha FC offer our wholehearted apologies and the club management will handle this matter internally,” the statement continued.
An interim coach will be announced shortly.
He had previously worked as manager of the national teams of South Africa and Finland in addition to his two years with England’s Under-19s.
The 67-year-old joined Odisha in August 2020 and the team were at the bottom of the Super League ladder after 14 games, managing just eight points.
