The head of Nyinahin, Nana Amampine Twum Boateng II, calls for severe sanctions for the students involved in the burning of certain blocks of the Catholic high school in Nyinahin.
As Modernghana News reported on Friday, some as yet unidentified final year students set fire to some structures in the school, including the boys’ dormitory.
According to the information gathered, the students were angry with the school authorities for refusing to allow them to cheat in the WASSCE which has just ended.
Speaking to reporters after the incident, Nana Amampine Twum Boateng II, head of Nyinahin, expressed disappointment at the students’ action.
He insists that laws exist for a reason and therefore anyone found guilty should be severely punished.
“How can you rely on leaked questions to pass your exams?” Teachers are paid to teach, and you, the students, have to review your grades and do whatever it takes to pass the exams.
“You are not saying that because you are not happy with the exams, you have to do yourself justice. There are laws in society that govern us. We have to get to the root of this and those who are found guilty should be severely punished, ”said Nana Amampine Twum Boateng II.
The fire at Nyinahin Catholic High School completely destroyed the boys’ Dormitory A.
