Following a petition by an MP to the Speaker of Parliament for a motion to be put forward to demand that President Akufo-Addo suspend the payment of fees, many Ghanaians have taken to social media to support the decision .
Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga had argued that the tuition suspension would cushion students and parents amid the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on people.
But as Parliament has not yet discussed and concluded on the issue, a hashtag is already in fashion.
Social media users, mostly students from different institutions across the country, are lobbying the government to consider the proposal.
I had to postpone my course into my senior year as I couldn’t pay my fees earlier so I didn’t receive any study materials to study for the exams that were near the corner. This is why I voted and prayed for JM to win the kyemp3 policy. But Yaanom stole the victory #SuspendTheSchoolFees
