Sudan urges international community to provide more funds to refugees – Sudan

July 27, 2018 (KHARTOUM) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sudan Refugee Commission have agreed to coordinate their efforts to tackle the refugee problem.

The two sides discussed ways to support a large number of refugees and illegal migrants who share limited resources with the host communities.

They also called on the international community to badume its responsibilities According to statistics from the Sudan Refugee Commission, Sudan hosts about 2 million refugees from Ethiopia, Eritrea and Chad. Somalia, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Yemen and Syria.

According to the United Nations, Sudan hosts 110,000 Eritrean refugees, 400,000 South Sudanese refugees and over 100,000 Syrian refugees.

In addition, some 500,000 South Sudanese who remained in Sudan as a result of the separation also need humanitarian badistance, according to the UN.
