Several women told their story at the BBC after being arrested by Sudan's rapid support forces.

The women claimed to have been beaten repeatedly with sticks and threatened with execution.

When they were asked to save their lives, some of the young men opened fire.

They spoke of other victims who had been forced to drink sewage and who had been urinated.

The militia, formerly known as Janjaweed, is a brutal group that has been terrorizing the Darfur region for years.

He is commanded by the number two of the ruling military council in Sudan – Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo – known as Hemeti.
