Former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was transferred to Kobar's maximum security prison, a few days after his dismissal following a coup by the military state.

According to reports, the former leader has been detained in heavy custody of the presidential residence.

He would be held in isolation and is surrounded by enhanced security.

Months of protests in Sudan have resulted in the ouster and arrest of longtime leader Thursday.

Ugandan Foreign Minister Henry Oryem Okello told the Reuters news agency that the country would consider offering asylum to the deposed leader, despite his 39, issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
