After the mysterious death of a 13 year old Kentucky girl following a cheerleader competition, an autopsy report revealed two months later that her death was due to a streptococcal infection, Daily News reported.
Dan Schalck, Lilliana Schalck's father, said that she was warming up at her All-Star competition on February 23 when she began to feel a numbness in her hands and tingling feet, according to ABC News. .

"I sort of took him aside, maybe I would make him drink liquids," he said. "She was just starting to weaken, not acting herself."
Lilliana was quickly taken to the emergency room of the National Children's Hospital.
"At one point, I was able to approach and hold her hand. At this point, they simply could not do it anymore.
A few hours later, she died.
His family corroborated the report in a statement to the media.
"Apparently, an underlying Strep infection has overwhelmed his immune system with little or no warning and catastrophic results," the statement said.
"We knew this report was coming, and honestly, we had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it does not change anything for us. But, on the other hand, we would not wish this nightmare to anyone and perhaps this report could help prevent a similar outcome for someone else. "
According to Health, the streptococcal infection caused the development of sepsis that eventually killed her.
