When entering a relationship, you need to provide support and care
The love is really strange.
This is the most common word in the 6,500 languages of the world.
This is also the most common word in the Bible.
The irony is that there is no definite definition of love.
We understand it differently depending on our age, our faith, our culture and our experience of life.
The Greek language, for example, has broken down the word love to represent four different feelings: philia, storage, eros and agape.
The Bible, however, gives us the best understanding of love.
St. Paul says that love does not seek his. St. John and Jesus say that love is about dying for another.
The Akans say that you want or that "to love is to die".
True love is therefore essentially a gift of oneself.
It's about putting the needs of your partner ahead of yours to make it better.
Therefore, in a fulfilling relationship, it is essential to take care of your partner.
This has a cost. Love therefore has a price to pay. There can be no true love without service, sacrifice and suffering.
Some examples
A South Korean sang more than 900 songs for 60 hours, with only a 10-minute time slot, to cheer up her sick lover.
She collapsed from exhaustion, but her efforts paid off as her lover improved.
A Ghanaian lawyer has ended her lucrative practice of following her husband abroad to treat him. In the end, she donated her kidney to save her husband.
Many years ago, missionaries, led by Father Clement Hotze, left all the gifts in "aburokyire", took vows of poverty, obedience and chastity and settled in a place without water. without electricity and without medical care.
They were the pioneers of my alma mater, St. Peter's School of Nkwatia-Kwahu. They gave everything to build the school. They died and were buried in Ghana.
How to suffer
Have a positive mental attitude: all relationships are difficult, but it is hard work, commitment and sacrifice that will nourish your relationship.
If you consider that your relationship is good, it will be easier for you to do everything in your power to keep it alive.
Decide never to give up on your relationship.
Concentrate on yourself: find ways to improve your partner regardless of how they treat you. See what you can do better and differently because your lover is just reacting to what you are doing.
Make yourself more pleasant so that your kind gestures have a positive impact on your lover.
See your lover's weaknesses as an awakening calling for sacrifice and making it better.
Share all areas of your life.
Give up what you love and face what you hate: Studies show that it takes a determined partner to transform a relationship. Therefore, by acting alone, you can make your relationship romantic and exciting.
The bigger your sacrifices, the greater your satisfaction in the relationship.
Do all that is necessary to improve your lover: when you enter a relationship, you are supposed to bring support and care.
You take over where your lover falls short.
It is the sacrifices you make that motivate your lover to improve.
You must therefore embrace suffering because, in addition to building your relationship, it develops your character, your perseverance and your maturity.
If you never suffer, you will be less humanly able to show love or to be loved.
Continue to love by suffering: God sends suffering to help us become holy and focus entirely on Him. Suffering is a test of fire that purifies the gold in us but burns the garbage in us.
Suffering helps us to be patient and connects us to the suffering and death of Christ.
It is not easy to suffer, but if we want to share the glory of Christ, we must share his pain.
Your model of love
This week's Christians are celebrating the death of Jesus who hated sin but loved the sinner to the point of freely giving up his life to give us hope and salvation.
He was the son of God but took the nature of a slave.
He did nothing wrong but was rejected, falsely accused, mocked, abused and tortured, but prayed that all would be forgiven.
Jesus took our sufferings in him, felt the suffering for us and saved us. We should have suffered much more than us if Jesus had not taken the just punishment for all our sins.
Let Jesus be your model of love and suffer for your lover.
Die for you by giving and not taking.
To die by abandoning bad habits and doing pious acts that build your lover. Always be ready to give strength and hope to your partner.
If you have to suffer to keep your relationship exciting, do not change anything.
Being in a fulfilling relationship is the best thing that can happen to you but love the costs and you have to be willing to pay the price if you want to stay in love.
There is nothing like free love. Suffer to love and love to suffer.
That's right, one that never fails.
